Easter is just around the corner, Aspierations friends!
If you're in the Vancouver, Washington area and are on the hunt for some egg-ceptional Easter Egg hunts for children with special needs, we wanted to share a couple options on Saturday, April 23rd.
We will be attending the LifePoint Church Eggstreme Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 23rd from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m with hunts at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Although in years past they have had a special needs egg hunt which has been sectioned off to the left side of the church, I am not sure if it will be in the same spot this year. I posted a note on their Facebook wall confirming if there would be a special needs area and they did post YES! Wonderful news!
This hunt is located at 305 NE 192nd Avenue in Vancouver near the new Costco. It's free and there will be inflatables (bouncing = BIG hit), 25,000 eggs stuffed with candy and prizes and drawings to win easter baskets. It is for ages 2 years through 5th grade.
Our sons (now 11 1/2 and almost 5) enjoyed this hunt for the past two years and even if there weren't a special needs section (which has been confirmed that there will be), I know Ryan will want to go. The people at LifePoint Church are very nice and generous and the only challenge we've had is getting the boys OUT of the inflatables! (That's a challenge anywhere we go with the bounce houses. I can't say I blame them!) Where are the adult bounce houses?
LifePoint will also be having Easter services and the whole community is welcome no matter what your religious affiliation / denomination.
You can check out their website online at:
or visit their Facebook Group: http://www.facebook.com/lifepointvancouver
The other hunt below at McKenzie Stadium (behind Evergreen High School in Vancouver) doesn't mention age limits but there is a number to call with questions. Our family hasn't attended this hunt before but it has been around for a number of years and we'll be going this year.
Of special note, they will hold a sibling / buddy egg hunt after the Special Needs hunt so bringing siblings should not an issue.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt
The MCCDCT Easter Egg Hunt is the only one of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The hunt is done at McKenzie Stadium behind Evergreen High School. This hunt is for children with physical and developmental disabilities. Wheelchairs and walkers can cross this field easily.
